Electrical PAT testing

Electrical pat testing

is a procedure done on electrical gadgets, appliances and instruments to ensure that they are safe enough to be used in schools, workplace, museums, shops and other places respectively. After the electrical products have been tested, they are

labelled

and marked and that the testing is done a regular basis respectively.

It is necessary that all the electrical appliances that are being used be tested and should be safe in order to prevent any hazard from taking place. At a workplace, a person who ensures the safety is called a duty care holder and he is primarily a senior officer in an organization. It happens that the electrical gadgets are visually inspected at the place where the cable and plug are inspected for maintenance. The electrical pat testing is conducted by a PAT engineer who knows about the regulations relative to the procedure. The traditional PAT testing equipment is easily available and it can determine whether an appliance is safe or not. But a PAT engineer uses an advanced form of PAT tester that shows a comprehensive detail apart from the pass or fails result. Moreover, a PAT tester needs to be calibrated on a regular basis so that they ensure the correct measurement for the appliances that is in compliance with the existing testing regulation.

The electrical pat testing is performed two or three times in a year. Apart from the usual testing, the checking procedures are also conducted over the electrical gadgets and appliances. For instance if the portable devices are working properly for a consistent amount of time, then they will only be tested one time in a year. If a company does not want to hire the services of a PAT engineer, then one of its senior officers can learn the testing procedure through a short term course and ensure the safety of the appliances on a regular basis.
